I spent more time testing configurations than I did actually deploying it by a long shot. You have to make sure that everything is done correctly and the end user experience is smooth. You’re doing it for a team and you’re accountable to other people. Personally I switched to bitwarden in a few hours no issue but doing it for a company is a different beast.
I’m sure that it could have happened faster if that was my sole focus but I only had about an hour a day to look at it and because it was so disjointed I frequently had to spend half my time reacquainting myself with where I was. That doesn’t even included the discovery phase where we tested 3 other products which accounted for 24 hours. I just looked at our logged time for the switch to bitwarden we just did and it accounted for 18 hours of work. Companies are slow to move because there is cost associated with moving.
